David Scott qualified as a veterinary surgeon at The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh. After setting up and running several small animal practices in various parts of the country, he eventually settled in Dorset.

When asked why he wrote Vet Wars, David replied, “Vets have been under considerable stress recently due to the much talked about Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) investigation into the prices they charge. This has added even more pressure to what is already a very demanding job and has created a crucible of public and professional dissatisfaction. Vet Wars provides the wooden spoon to stir the pot, and goes a long way to answering the question: what would it actually take to make a vet throw in the towel?”
